This year the 31st International EAES Congress in Rome was themed ‘the future belongs to the next generation’. As ever, there were a vast range of talks and videos on surgical technique and new technologies.
Lots of emphasis on equality, diversity and the future of surgery. Fantastic to see incoming President George Hanna and President-Elect Nicole Bouvy; they will undoubtably push EAES to greater things.
The conference was a fantastic opportunity to share updates on Lapco as we strive to improve education in surgery on a global basis.
Lapco Founder Mark Coleman was invited deliver a talk on ‘laparoscopic training for rectal cancer’. A great session on improving standards in colorectal cancer.
Pleasing to see the work of Lapco cited in a number of lectures on training; including an excellent talk delivered by Surgeon Bogdan Smeu who is involved in a programme being developed by Lapco to support adoption of minimally invasive surgery in Romania.
Mark Commented: “As always, amazing meeting, amazing place, amazing content, amazing friends!”
Next year Maastricht 11-14 June 2024!
